New Personal/Editorial Website

Recently I decided that my combined blog/portfolio wasn’t doing the greatest job of communicating who I am as a photographer so I started from scratch building a new portfolio site. I’ve used the name Visual Mumbling for years now and decided to use that as the title of my new site. I find that it conveys my personality as a photographer. My photos generally aren’t very loud but they all speak from my own unique perspective. In editing for the new site I decided to frame everything from my own perspective and personality to better communicate who I am.

In addition I’ve also overhauled my blog to be more in line with Visual Mumbling and to be a place where I can show off all my various personal and professional photographic pursuits. Those of you reading this from Google Reader or any other blog aggregator should check it out at noahdevereaux.com/blog.

Glitter Explosion

Yesterday was a beautiful day so I decided to go on a short walk through Chinatown after the New Years parade had wrapped up. What I found was a bunch of tourists milling around and a small army of Sanitation Department workers working quickly to clean up the piles of glitter and confetti that had accumulated on the streets in a few short hours.

Snowed In

I found this while exploring Newtown Creek some more this morning. I guess it got snowed in.

Somehow this doesn’t seem like a very good idea

But nobody asked me.

Soothing, Unsettling and Mysterious

I got my Mamiya 6 back and yesterday I took it out for a spin in the neighborhood. There’s something about the emptiness I encounter as I explore around Newtown Creek that I find at once soothing, unsettling and mysteriously alluring. As I walk around I can’t help but wonder what kind of secrets are hiding behind all these walls. With some measure of luck and persistence I hope to commit those feelings to film in the coming months.
